VANNI'S BIRD WORLD IN OBERDRAUBURG, CARINTHIA. AUSTRIA.

Vanni’s bird world is located in the centre of Oberdrauburg in the Upper Drava, right next to the Town Hall. Here at the crossroads of the Drautalstraße with the road to the Plockenpass (Passo Montrecroce Carnico), there was the Rainer barn. It was built shortly after 1900 in the city centre, a few meters from Oberdrauburg’s Town Hall and the Drau bridge (the pre-existing bridge to 1965 led to the Manhart house). Now the former barn is home of more than a thousand birds, placed in numerous showcases and niches. The building has a small reception room on the ground floor.

"Through this bird world, I want to make my collection -which is certainly unique in the Alps region - accessible to a public that loves nature. Oberdrauburg as a crossroads on the ancient Roman road Iulia Augusta, is the ideal place for this dream of a lifetime to become reality ".
